Celebrating Black Business Month: Fresh Food Generation

Cassandria Campbell, a BEI graduate (Cohort V), founded Fresh Food Generation with her buisness partner Jackson Renshaw in 2014.

The conception of Fresh Food Generation started when Cassandria wanted to find healthier food options in her hometown, Roxbury. As food justice advocates, Cassandria and Jackson created a way to serve healthy and affordable food to low-income neighborhoods while ensuring high quality and taste. Fresh Food Generation commits to sourcing sustainable foods from local farms and bakers. They also provide job training and employment to young adults. Fresh Food Generation serves a menu that combines feel-good comfort food with healthy local New England ingredients. They use the bold Caribbean and Southern flavors, from signature jerk sauce to sunflower-seed parsley pesto.

They have grown over the years and now have a catering business, food truck, and physical location. Fresh Food Generation continues to fulfill its mission of creating a sustainable and scalable enterprise addressing food disparities in inner-city neighborhoods.
